Every player says they want to run a full court up and down the floor offense! They all say it, but they can't all handle it. During the years that I had a great defensive team who could rebound and get out on the break, we would fill our lanes and try to get an initial shot with a quick break, then secondary break before setting up. Scoring table I would tell them if we can get to the rim or get an open shot, we want to take it. If not pull it out and set up, make people play defense.
Numerous teams try to play up tempo while playing poor defense and lackluster rebounding. Costs them a lot of points with put backs because they are out of position and taking off before the ball is secured. Great rebounding teams make it much easier to run the floor. I always worked our point guards to receive the ball up the floor as deep as possible. Scorer's table If not, work your way back to get. Guys filling the wings have to run and somehow the secondary break needs a trailer/ reverse pass/ away screen. You can get a lot of shots in 7-10 seconds.
